Friday 18 May was Plant Conservation Day, a global celebration dedicated to protecting and conserving plants for people and the planet.
Kings Park and Botanic Garden’s Horticulture and Conservation team is internationally recognised and acknowledged in the science of plant conservation, bushland restoration and undertaking integrated research focused on practical outcomes in native plant biology.
Students from Years 7-10 are assisting in the conservation of Kings Park’s bushland by taking part in Kings Park Education’s Bushland Carers program. Students are learning about the threats facing our urban bushland ecosystems and the importance of conservation for the future.
They are providing practical assistance to Kings Park’s conservation efforts by identifying fruit, collecting and cleaning seed and then sowing seed in punnets which they then label and take home or to school.
