The landscape design of Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park has been announced as the winner of the National Award for Excellence by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.

Boy in Naturescape structurePlan E landscape architects developed the design and are the recipients of this prestigious award.

The innovative landscape design evolved from a challenging brief to create a ‘natural’ space to reconnect children with nature.

It includes a running creek, wetlands, rocks, timber and other elements to engage and inspire children in Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park. Winding paths, boardwalks and bridges create a sense of immersion in the bush.

According to the AILA judges, the thoughtful, contemporary design is respectful and sensitive to the existing environmental conditions:

Congratulations to Plan E, the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority and all the partners in the project on this well-deserved national recognition.
