Join the Friends of Kings Park for a fun-filled March weekend of special events that support Kings Park and Botanic Garden.
Spend a lovely evening with friends and family, enjoy an outdoor film and support your park at the annual Friends of Kings Park fundraising movie night. Held at Moonlight Cinema in Synergy Parkland, Kings Park on Saturday, 23 March 2013, park visitors are invited to pack a picnic and enjoy a special screening of ‘The Hobbit’ (rated M). Gates open at 6.30 pm and the movie begins at 8.00 pm. All ticket sales will be donated to the Friends of Kings Park, who are celebrating 20 years of volunteer community service this year.
Get up early and get in quick for some unusual beauties at the Friends of Kings Park native plant sale on Sunday, 24 March 2013. The event runs from 8.30 am until 12 noon at the Exhibition Ground, just off Fraser Avenue in Kings Park (refer to map). A vast selection of native plants that are well-suited to local home gardens and not often available from commercial nurseries are on offer.
Over 10,500 plants from 300 different species will be available for purchase this month. Feature plants will include Physopis chrysophylla and Persoonia longifolia, alongside an exciting range of small to medium sized plants ideal for small garden spaces. A full listing of the plants for sale is available on the Friends of Kings Park website.
Local native plant experts, the Kings Park Volunteer Master Gardeners will also be present at the sale to provide free advice on how best to plant and look after your special purchases.
All proceeds from the Friends of Kings Park native plant sales support worthwhile projects and research in Kings Park and Botanic Garden.
