Get to know your winged-neighbours and vote for your favourite bird species in the first-ever election to celebrate Australia’s amazing avifauna.
Local residents are invited to ‘Meet Your Neighbours’ as a part of this year’s national Bird Week celebrations. Held from Saturday, 19 – Friday, 25 October 2013, BirdLife Australia provides a range of events and initiatives for the wider community to learn more about birds in their local area and get involved in bird conservation efforts.
To highlight the importance of Australian birdlife, choose from 52 of Australia’s most common neighbourhood birds in BirdLife Australia’s first national bird election. Simply cast your vote and spread the word to win a fabulous prize. Which one will it be – the nocturnal Tawny Frogmouth, colourful Australian Ringneck or picnic-loving Australian Raven? Perhaps the charismatic Galah, cheeky Willie Wagtail or endangered Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoo will get the top vote?
Visit the Bird Week events calendar to find out more on what is happening in your local area and join the campaign.
