Congratulations to our beloved Friends of Kings Park volunteer group, celebrating twenty years of community service in 2013.
Established in 1993 to enhance community involvement in Kings Park and Botanic Garden, the Friends of Kings Park have grown to 1,300 members, strengthened partnerships with other community organisations including Lotterywest and successfully promoted Kings Park as a special place for people and plants.
Mr John Atkins, Chairman of the Lotterywest Board affirmed the valuable role the Friends of Kings Park has within the local community.

We take great pleasure in knowing that our grants have made a real difference to Kings Park and Botanic Garden in ensuring it continues to be a special place for all Western Australians.It is evident that Friends of Kings Park's hundreds of volunteer members are such an important part of the story of Kings Park and we congratulate all of you during this important 20 year anniversary.'
In celebration of the last two decades of community service and partnerships, a commemorative edition of the People and Plants magazine was released in September.
The Friends of Kings Park celebrated at the Kings Park Festival with their 20th anniversary gala dinner on Tuesday, 24 September featuring special guest speakers Professor Stephen Hopper and Mark Webb, former and current CEO of BGPA respectively.
The popular Festival native plant sale was held from Saturday, 28 – Monday, 30 September. Free workshops with Kings Park experts were enjoyed by visitors on the topics 'Making Mini Gardens' and 'From Little Seeds Gardens Grow'.
The 2014 Friends of Kings Park Wildflowers of Western Australia calendar is available from Aspects of Kings Park gallery shop. All proceeds fund worthwhile projects in Kings Park and Botanic Garden and Bold Park.
