The Leake Memorial was unveiled in 1904 and is culturally significant for its association with the prominent Western Australian and former Premier of the State, George Leake. It is also a rare example of public sculpture by leading Perth Artist James W.R. Linton. It was assessed by the National Trust of Australia (WA) in 1999 and sits on the State Register of Heritage Places.

The Leake Memorial Fountain, located in the lawns of the State War Memorial precinct just north of the Remembrance Flame, will be undergoing some restoration maintenance works commencing Wednesday 28 May 2008. These works will include repair of the drinking fountains and associated plumbing, as well as restoration of the stone work of the memorial as specified by a Heritage Architect and approved by the Heritage Council.

The works area will be fenced off and there will be no public access to the memorial. We appreciate your patience during the works, which are anticipated to take approximately four weeks.
