Each week in September, Bikewest and the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority are giving away four Avanti bicycles as part of the Kings Park Festival.
The entire family will find something of interest at the Bikewest information stand during the 2008 Kings Park Festival. All aspects of riding a bicycle are covered, with plenty of brochures, facts sheets and maps available.
Visitors can find out about choosing a bicycle and accessories, learn how to plan a route and receive tips on cycling for fitness, commuting, recreation and touring. There will also be several bike maintenance clinics scheduled during the event.
The Bikewest stand will be at the following locations:
Sunday, 7 September Synergy Parkland
Sunday, 14 September Botanical Gardens
Sunday, 21 September Forrest Car Park
Sunday, 28 September Forrest Car Park
Adjacent to the Bikewest stand, the Over 55 Cycling Club will be conducting demonstrations each Sunday for people of all ages on how to set up a bicycle and basic handling skills. Staff from the Perth Integrated Health Clinic will also be available to provide advice to riders about injury prevention on Sunday the 7 and 28 September.
Visitors on foot have not been forgotten either. The Bikewest stand will have a selection of free publications on interesting walk routes throughout the metropolitan area, and tips about how to make walking part of your day.
Win a Bike
Four lucky West readers will have the chance to win an Avanti hybrid bike valued at $550, ideal for commuting, fitness and light off-road riding.
To enter the competition, all you need to do is send in your answer to a simple Festival question that will be published weekly in the Habitat section of Friday's West Australian Newspaper. The first question will appear Friday, 5 September.
Each weekly winner will have the choice of either an Avanti Blade 2.0 with alloy frame and 24-speed Shimano gearing or an Avanti Sublime 1.0 with a lightweight alloy frame, 24-speed Shimano gearing and a dual density saddle. The chosen bike will then be personally fitted by Avanti to the lucky winner's individual height and arm length.
