Kings Park Fire Under Control

E-mailPrint

Staff will be closely monitoring Kings Park following a small fire on Friday 12 December.

The fire was quickly brought under control by the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia and park staff.

A resident raised the alarm around 3.30 pm, Friday, 12 December regarding smoke near the intersection of Thomas St and Hamersley Rd, Subiaco.

"Approximately four hectares of bushland was lost before FESA and BGPA staff members contained the fire,"

Mr Mark Webb, Chief Executive Officer for the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority, said.

"Incidents like this remind us of the important role the community plays in protecting the park. We thank those involved for their vigilance."

Staff have been preparing for the fire season for some weeks and will closely monitor the situation over the weekend.

People may underestimate their ability to help in these situations and assume that FESA will be aware of the fire. This is not always the case.

If you see smoke, ring 000 immediately.
