The designated zone (BYO Picnic Area) in Kings Park and Botanic Garden is to the western side of Fraser Avenue and north of Wadjuk Way, as indicated on the map.

Visitors over the age of 18 will be permitted to consume alcohol in the designated zone between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm only.

In a recent media release, Premier Colin Barnett said the decision to allow some alcohol consumption had been made after extensive consultation with the WA Police and the City of Perth.

“We want to allow the Perth public to enjoy a responsible drink with their families while enjoying Perth’s biggest annual community event.

People are responsible enough to partake in a casual drink without being excessive and we hope that they prove us right in this regard." he said.

The amount of alcohol brought to the event will be limited to one six pack of beer or one bottle of wine per adult. There will be no alcohol for sale. Juveniles will be allowed into the designated areas if accompanied by an adult but underage drinking in any area will not be tolerated.

A strong security and police presence will be on site to monitor behaviour.
