The Kings Park Guides are a dynamic group of volunteers, including around 120 actively involved people of varying ages and backgrounds. The one thing they all have in common is a love for Kings Park and a desire to share this passion with visitors.
Founded in 1984, the numbers of volunteers and the range of their duties have expanded over the years to accommodate changes in the Park and its visitors.
'Being a Guide has opened up a whole new world to me. I have learned so much and I get to spend time in Kings Park, which I love. I have made so many new friends who share my interest in wildflowers and in the history of this wonderful place. It is very rewarding.' Thelma

-

All Kings Park Guides complete the Guides Training Course which is held, on average, every two years. The next Guides Training Course will be held in 2010.
Monthly meetings are usually followed by a talk on a subject of interest to the Guides. Then about a week later, there is a daytime outing in a related field or a relevant excursion.
There is an ongoing process of evaluation to maintain the quality and standards of the Guides.
A commitment of at least two duties a month is required - usually one in the Visitor Information Centre and one walk - all Guides are expected to do both.
