Gija Jumulu has delighted Kings Park staff by sprouting leaves.
In early December, the arboriculturalist team noticed very early leaf buds emerging on the Giant Boab within the lower canopy and also at the highest points.
The buds were a good sign that the tree was settling in to its new home. Staff predicted that leaves might be visible sometime between mid January, to early February, with the timing depending on weather conditions.
The recent warm weather in Perth seems to have sped things up and pictures taken Monday 5 January show leaf shoots which have appeared on many of the branches.
