Directorate Objectives

  • Provide, improve and promote recreational and tourism services and facilities on the designated land. Conserve and enhance any native biological diversity of the designated land. Conserve and enhance the natural environment, landscape features and amenity of the designated land.

  • Conserve, develop, manage, display, and undertake research into, collections of Western Australian and other flora.

  • Enhance and promote the understanding and conservation of the biological diversity of the designated land and of biological diversity generally.

  • Conserve, enhance and promote the Aboriginal, colonial and contemporary cultural heritage of the designated land.

  • Promote the use of flora for the purposes of horticulture, conservation and education.

These objectives reflect the specific functions of the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority Act 1998 and are undertaken with an emphasis towards horticulture and biodiversity conservation.
