21 Gun Salute

The Queen's Birthday 21 Gun Salute, will be fired at noon at the State War Memorial in recognition of this important day.
The tradition of the saluting can be traced to the Middle Ages practice of placing oneself in an unarmed position and, therefore, in the power of those being honoured. 21-gun salutes mark special royal occasion throughout the Commonwealth and is referred to as a 'Royal Salute'.
