Many city children miss out on the wonder of exploring and playing in nature. Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park is a unique place just for this purpose – for learning through adventure.

Children need to touch and feel nature in order to understand it and learn to love it. Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park is a place to learn about the sensitive ecosystems found in the WA landscape, about the importance of bushland and our precious natural resources like water and solar energy.

A growing body of research shows that connection with nature is critical for healthy childhood development. It is also essential if we are to create a new generation of Western Australians who will care for our natural environment.

Studies have shown that time spent outdoors in nature has a positive effect on the development of children’s motor skills, senses, emotion, intellect, personal growth and social skills.

For the most part, this area exists in its natural bush state. It showcases beautiful native Western Australian bushland and highlights its importance to the health of the environment.

Along with its emphasis on unstructured activity, Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park also offers structured learning through the Kings Park Education program.
