This is an environmental discovery and learning facility. There are important conditions of entry for all visitors.
All children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Sharp sticks, rocks, water, snakes and spiders are all a natural part of our environment. Please look after each other. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
No large picnics, shelters, chairs or equipment
Large picnics, chairs, shade shelters and/or portable BBQs are not permitted in this area. Picnics and barbecues are better suited to other areas of Kings Park and Botanic Garden and should be enjoyed before or after visiting Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park. Free public barbecues are located at the Lotterywest Family Area, Synergy Parkland, Saw Avenue Picnic Area and the Pines Picnic Area. There are no barbecues, lawn or bins on site but there are seating pods with shade and many logs and rocks where visitors can rest or enjoy a small snack.
Groups must book
Sorry, no booking = no entry for coordinated groups.
School and carer groups can book by contacting the BGPA Education Coordinator.
Be prepared to queue or come back later
During very busy times of the year, such as school holidays and spring/summer weekends, visitation often reaches site capacity early in the day. When maximum capacity is reached, Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park will be temporarily closed to further entry. Visitors should be prepared to either queue for entry or come back later. Please be courteous to other visitors during this time or take the opportunity to enjoy other attractions in Kings Park and Botanic Garden.
Take rubbish with you
There are no bins. Food scraps and other rubbish are junk food for wildlife so please take your rubbish home.
No smoking or alcohol
No swimming in Paperbark Creek
The water onsite is not suitable for swimming, drinking or ingesting. This includes sitting in it and splashing. Children are to remained clothed at all times. Knee-deep paddling in Paperbark Creek is permitted. Help us keep the water clean and do not allow children wearing nappies in the water.
Please do not throw rocks
Rock throwing, or any dangerous behaviour, is not permitted.
No bikes, scooters, skates, skateboards or ball games
Bike racks are located outside the entrance to Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park. Enjoy the many cycle paths in other areas of Kings Park. Large picnics, ball games and these kinds of activities are best suited elsewhere in Kings Park, such as the Lotterywest Family Area or Synergy Parkland areas.
Pets + wildlife = big trouble!
Don't panic. Phone 000 for fire and emergencies. Listen for instructions. A first aid post is located on site. Staff and volunteers are always available to help you.
