The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority is a sought-after partner among the corporate community. Corporate sponsorships provide a valuable connection to the natural environment, local community, Aboriginal and cultural heritage, scientific research and conservation.

The Authority is experienced in managing best-practice sponsorship relationships. It holds a strong position and reputation in the community, which in turn provides corporate partners with unique reputational benefits, marketing reach and networking opportunities.

Kings Park and Botanic Garden is a close neighbour to businesses in West Perth and the Perth CBD and has the highest visitation of any destination in Western Australia, welcoming nearly six million visitors per annum.

The Authority's preference is to engage in long-term, mutually beneficial arrangements which bring the public and private sectors together. All relationships with the corporate community are carefully aligned to ensure shared values, and each agreement is negotiated individually.

There are a number of ways your corporation can be involved in our special parks.

Priority project sponsorship

Priority projects for corporate support are drawn from the Authority’s Strategic Planning processes and the current Kings Park and Botanic Garden Management Plan. Each project is carefully selected for its long-term impact and high quality outcomes. These priorities are based on community needs, biodiversity conservation and scientific research, public education and local cultural heritage.

Seeking funding and support from diverse sources strengthens our ability to provide the best results for the community and the natural environment. Sponsorships and partnerships are the most common method for the private sector to support projects in Kings Park.

Current priorities include:

  • Promoting and enhancing the Western Australian Botanic Garden
  • Kings Park social history– recording the collective memory of Western Australia.
  • Expanding the amazing Kings Park Volunteer program
  • Environmental education projects
  • Nyoongar culture, heritage and education
  • Leading research and conservation projects to protect Western Australia’s position as a global biodiversity hotspot.

Friends of Kings Park corporate membership

The Friends of Kings Park are a not-for-profit organisation that links Kings Park with the wider community. Its aim is to assist the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority by encouraging public interest and contributions.

This is done through membership; active volunteering in conservation, bushland management and horticulture; promotion; education; and, attracting funding for special projects (such as the Lotterywest Federation Walkway and Lotterywest Family Area).

The Friends of Kings Park offer four levels of corporate membership. Each level provides a range of benefits including a magazine subscription and opportunities for corporate entertaining and networking within Kings Park.

Corporate volunteer partnership

Employee Volunteer Partnerships are available to a small number of corporate groups. These usually involve a commitment of between one and five years to a conservation project in Kings Park or Bold Park.

The partnerships offer a meaningful way for your employees to contribute to and benefit from a volunteer experience. Key conservation and science staff are on-hand to present information and new skills to employees as part of these projects.

In turn, Employee Volunteer Partnerships provide the best value compared with a traditional one-off ‘team-building’ event. Regular volunteers are able to take on more meaningful tasks, learn new skills and see the fruits of their labour over time.

Corporate groups are asked to become Corporate Friends of Kings Park and to meet the costs associated with their volunteer project. All volunteer partnerships for corporate groups are individually negotiated.
