Enjoy Treetops and River Views

Admire panoramic views, learn about the diversity of Western Australian flora and discover our rich history along the Lotterywest Federation Walkway. Continue the journey on Law Walk and discover Beedawong – a special meeting place for the Indigenous people. See the mighty boab tree Gija Jumulu, a 750 year old specimen that travelled 3,200 km from the Kimberley region of WA.

Explore Play Areas

Visit play areas at the Lotterywest Family Area, Synergy Parkland and the Saw Avenue Picnic Area where children meet the colourful animal fritters, play in the footprints of dinosaurs, and discover the insect world.

Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park

A place for children to connect with the environment and see what it's like to make their own fun: explore, climb ropes, wade through creeks, build cubbies and get dirty. Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park is the perfect outing for families and school excursions.

Events and Festivities

Kings Park is host to a range of summer events including outdoor concerts, movies and theatre from November – April each year. The renowned Kings Park Festival is held each September to celebrate the wildflower season and beginning of spring.

Walk in the Park

Learn how to live off the land on the Boodja Gnarning Walk. Enjoy a Free Guided Walk with the Kings Park Guides starting at 10.00 am, 12 noon and 2.00 pm daily. Brochures are available at the Visitor Information Centre for a self-guided experience. Indigenous Heritage Tours and hop-on/hop-off City Sightseeing Bus Tours are also available.

Discover Wildflowers

Visit the State Botanic Garden to marvel at the many garden areas and unique WA flora. There are plants in flower all year round, with the peak season between July and October. Learn more about using native varieties in your backyard at a Dig it with Coffee session. Purchase your very own at a Friends of Kings Park native plant sale.

Experience Nature

Enjoy the flora and fauna that live in Kings Park and Botanic Garden. Ancient animals, colourful wildflowers and over 70 bird species are just some of nature’s wonders that might catch your eye. Wander through the Bushland Nature Trail to see how many you can find.

Remember History

Honour our servicemen at the State War Memorial. Visit the Fraser Avenue Ceremonial Walk, the Eternal Flame and the many memorials in the area. Journey down the Kokoda Track Walk to pay tribute to the fallen of World War II or take yourself on a self-guided memorials walk.

Climb the DNA Tower

Climb all 101 steps of the spiraling DNA Tower for spectacular views around Kings Park and Botanic Garden, the Swan River and over to Rottnest Island.
