With so many plants and wildflowers found nowhere else on Earth, Western Australia is a true haven for beauty rich and rare – making it the perfect theme for the 2015 Kings Park Festival!
The South West of Western Australia is a global biodiversity hotspot, renowned for its incredible native flora which is at its blooming best in spring.
During the entire Festival month, you can discover WA's wildflowers, take a guided walk, enter a competition, get snap-happy, learn something new and mingle with the beloved Adorable Florables. Be sure to also stop by Aspects of Kings Park gallery and gift shop to see the stunning nature-inspired window art and meet the Aspects' artists in residence.
This year, the Festival will be extra special as 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the Western Australian Botanic Garden in Kings Park.
To celebrate, all month you can take a walk through the WA Botanic Garden on our '50 Year Journey' exhibition, view the colourful Bella Umbrellas' on display outside Aspects of Kings Park, and see the 'Funky Trunks' exhibition - where trees in Kings Park are dressed to party!
Our team have also been busily creating a new type of wildflower to celebrate this milestone and we are thrilled to unveil 'Anniversary Gold' - a yellow variety of the Kangaroo Paw. This sunny beauty will be on display at John Forrest Roundabout, located on the corner of May and Lovekin Drives, and will be blooming all through the Festival.
Highlight events include the Santos Live concert series and the magical Fantastic Faraway Festival (supported by our major sponsor Santos), the Backyard Botanicals Day (hosted by the Volunteer Kings Park Master Gardeners) and the Friends of Kings Park Native Plant Sale.
There is definitely something for everyone at the 2015 Kings Park Festival. Whether you’re a curious kid or a seasoned gardening pro, a nature enthusiast or art lover, you are bound to be delighted, inspired and enthralled by Kings Park this September.
There is so much Beauty Rich and Rare to see during the Kings Park Festival in 2015.
