Kings Park and Botanic Garden is a beautiful setting for a family picnic and barbecue, with many ideal locations found throughout the parklands.
All visitors are welcome to use the free, electric barbecues maintained by the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority. Locations include:
- Pines Picnic Area (two hot plates)
- Synergy Parkland (ten hot plates)
- Lotterywest Family Area (eight hot plates)
- Saw Avenue Picnic Area (eight hot plates).
On very busy days, these facilities are often in high demand and queuing may be required. Barbecues cannot be reserved for exclusive use, and are available on a first come, first served basis. When a specific area or venue is booked for a group function, this does not include exclusive use of the barbecues. Portable barbecues are also not permitted and penalites apply.
For further information on recommended picnic and barbecue locations in Kings Park, access the Picnic and BBQ Areas map. Please note: this map has been designed from the perspective of a visitor to Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park, which is not a picnic area.
To preserve the high standard of the parkland areas, it is encouraged that you take your rubbish with you after each visit. Rubbish bins are located in all barbecue areas, nearby food outlets and in the visitor precinct near the Visitor Information Centre.
If you are visiting Bold Park, you need to take your own refreshments as there are no food outlets within the park. Barbecues are available at the nearby Perry Lakes Picnic Area in the Town of Cambridge.
