Kings Park GuidesThe Kings Park Volunteer Guides are a dynamic group of 120 active people of varying ages and backgrounds. The one thing they all have in common is a love for Kings Park and a desire to share this passion with visitors.

The Guides have grown and expanded since their inception in 1984 to accommodate changes in Kings Park and its visitors.

'Being a Guide has opened up a whole new world to me. I have learned so much and I get to spend time in Kings Park, which I love. I have made so many new friends who share my interest in wildflowers and in the history of this wonderful place. It is very rewarding.' Thelma

Kings Park Guides:

  • Lead Guided Walks (thrice daily - at 10.00 am, 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm)

  • Vary the walk program through the year to include botanical, ecological, historical, cultural and scientific aspects of Kings Park

  • Staff the Visitors Information Centre (daily between 9.30 am - 4.00 pm in two shifts, with two Guides on each shift)

  • Lead 'Special Walks' (custom-designed) as requested by a diverse range of people

  • Get involved with numerous other projects.

Guided walksAll Kings Park Volunteer Guides complete the Guides Training Course which is held, on average, every two years. The next Guides Training Course will be held in 2013.

Guides hold monthly meetings and presentations for members on interesting subjects. Relevant excursions are also held for members each month.

A commitment of at least two duties a month is required - usually one in the Visitor Information Centre and one walk - all Guides are expected to do both.
