The support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers was celebrated this week at a Volunteer Appreciation Function at Zamia Café.
Volunteers from Friends of Kings Park, Friends of Bold Park Bushland, Honour Avenues Group, Kings Park Volunteer Guides and Kings Park Education attended the event which saw Years of Service certificates presented to 22 long-serving members.
Minister for Environment the Honourable Amber-Jade Sanderson said volunteers were crucial to the successful work of Kings Park and Bold Park.
'International Volunteer Day last Sunday reminds us of the important role volunteers play in social and environmental change,' she said.
'Our volunteers provide vital assistance in conserving our State’s environmental treasures, remembering WA’s history and encouraging community engagement through education and events promoting our native flora.
'In the 2020-2021 Financial Year nearly 40,000 volunteer hours were contributed to the work of Bold Park and Kings Park by more than 500 volunteers.
'Your time, expertise and passion could not be more appreciated.'
Thank you to everyone for your support and we wish you a very Merry Christmas!
