The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority (BGPA or Authority) manages Kings Park and Botanic Garden and Bold Park in Perth, Western Australia
Minister
The Botanic Garden and Parks Authority sits within the portfolio of the Hon. Reece Raymond Whitby MLA, Minister for Environment; Climate Action. He was appointed to the position in December, 2021.
Management
The strategic direction of the Authority is largely dictated by the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority Act 1998 and Botanic Gardens and Parks Regulations 1999. Key documents such as the BGPA Strategic Priorities 2020-25, Kings Park and Botanic Garden Management Plan and Bold Park Management Plan assist in the ongoing care of our designated lands and can be accessed via the Plans and Policies section.
On 1 July 2017, the BGPA became a part of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), an amalgamation that also includes Parks and Willidfe Services, Perth Zoo and Rottnest Island. The BGPA remains a statutory authority with a governing Board of Management.
The Botanic Garden and Parks Authority receives significant funding from the State Government of Western Australia. Additional revenue is generated through various commercial activities including lease and licensing arrangements, all proceeds from Aspects of Kings Park gallery shop and fee-for-service activities. Corporate partnerships, grants and generous donations from individuals and organisations also provide critical funding support.
We sincerely appreciate the contribution of all supporters, volunteers, sponsors, donors and partners. More information is available in the community support section or via contacting us directly.
