The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority has a long standing commitment to recognition and celebration of Indigenous cultural heritage and respect for Indigenous people and their connections with Kings Park and Botanic Garden and Bold Park, past, present and future.

An initiative of Reconciliation Australia, Reconciliation Action Plans provide a framework for the future, detailing steps and priorities to achieve Indigenous equality through building good relationships; respecting the special contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to Australia; and ensuring Indigenous children have the same life opportunities as other children in this country.

The Authority's Reconciliation Action Plan outlines strategies to address the vision for Indigenous reconciliation:

'To continue to conserve, enhance and promote the Aboriginal cultural heritage of the lands we manage to engender understanding and respect of Indigenous culture and values within the broader community, and to further develop our relationships with Indigenous Australians to assist in realising this vision.'
