Nature noises
Find a quiet spot to sit outside. Listen to the wind in the trees.
Can you hear the rustling of leaves high up in the treetops? Maybe you can hear branches tapping against each other, or squeaking and creaking? Try putting your ear against the trunk of a tree? What can you hear?
How about other nature sounds? Do you hear any birds singing, the clicking of cicadas, buzzing of bees or rustling of lizards?
Are there any frogs calling out to one another? They can be very noisy and loud!
Maybe you can hear your next-door neighbours talking, cars in the street or aeroplanes in the sky?
Make a Nature Maraca to create your own music at home!

What to do:
- Go on a scavenger hunt in your garden to find some natural materials that will make good rattling sounds when shaken inside a box. Such as: tree nuts, small rocks, little twigs and dried leaves.
- Using a cardboard milk carton or small container, fill it up with your natural materials (remembering to leave plenty of space for your bush bits to move around).
- Use masking tape to close the end of the milk carton or container.
- Decorate your nature maraca with stickers, drawings or stamps. You could also glue on some leaves or other nature materials from your scavenger hunt.
- Music making time - shake your nature maraca! Shake, shake, shake!
