Free guided walks in Kings Park and Botanic Garden are led by the Kings Park Volunteer Guides. They depart daily from Fraser Avenue, outside Aspects of Kings Park, except Christmas Day.

Free guided walks in Kings ParkGuided walks are free to the public and bookings are generally not necessary for groups less than 10 people.

The Heart of Kings Park is a three-hour bushland walk, held on Fridays between July and October. Bookings are required for this walk and close midday Thursday. 

Additional walks are available during the annual Kings Park Festival in September, some of which require booking as indicated in the events calendar.

In rare circumstances, guided walks may be cancelled such as the afternoons of extreme fire danger days. Notices will be posted to this website.

Discover Kings Park

Wander amongst Western Australia’s unique native flora and discover the diversity of plants from the Kimberley to the Great Southern.
Available: All year round
Duration: 1.5 hours

Water Views and Wilderness

Enjoy glorious views of the Swan River and Mt Eliza escarpment. Explore the unique flora of Roe Gardens and Kings Park Bushland.
Available: July - August
Duration: 2 hours
Access: Moderate degree of difficulty. Enclosed footwear, sunscreen, hat and water needed.

Wildflowers and Bushland

Discover spring wildflowers along the Nature Trail where you may encounter encounter ‘milkmaids and postmen, pixies and fairies, donkeys and spiders’.
Available: August - October
Duration: 2 hours
Access: Suitable for wheelchairs

Heart of the Park

Tread hidden paths and discover how plants survive in this challenging environment.
Available: July - October
Duration: up to 3 hours
Access: Moderate degree of difficulty, some dirt tracks, up to 5 km. Enclosed footwear, sunscreen, hat and water needed.

Guided walks by request

Special guided walks are available for group bookings (greater than 10 people) who have particular needs, such as a convenient time or specially designed topic. Bookings must be made through the Bookings Officer one month prior to the intended walk date to ensure a Kings Park Guide will be available. Prices start at $5.00 per person. Biara Cafe temporary closure

Biara Cafe will be closing temporarily from 2 August - 19 September for refurbishment works.

Administration car park closure

There will be limited access to the BGPA Administration building and the Kings Park Education and Learning building from Wednesday 15 June 2022 for approximately 8 weeks, due to ongoing Water Corporation works.

Water Corporation works

The Water Corporation is replacing approximately 700 metres of ageing water pipes between Mount Eliza Reservoir and Bellevue Terrace in Kings Park.

A team of researchers from Kings Park Science in Biodiversity and Conservation Science, the University of Western Australia (UWA) and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Spain, have led the development of an approach for ecosystem restoration which connects scientific research, restoration policy, and on-the-ground action.
