The Friends of Kings Park established in 1993 to involve the community in the maintenance of Kings Park and Botanic Garden as a special place for people and plants.

Kings Park volunteersThe Friends of Kings Park have strengthened partnerships with other community organisations including Lotterywest and successfully promoted Kings Park as a special place for people and plants. The Friends of Kings Park encourages interest and involvement through:

  • Membership
  • Education and publication
  • Preserving cultural heritage
  • Active participation in conservation, bush land management and horticulture
  • Assisting research
  • Promotion and publicity
  • Raising funds for special projects

By becoming a member of the Friends of Kings Park, you support Kings Park and Botanic Garden. Membership fees support important projects in the park and provide a wide range of benefits to members.

The Friends of Kings Park has more than 1300 members who support Kings Park through their membership subscriptions.

Volunteering for the Friends of Kings Park

The Friends of Kings Park have several volunteer groups in areas such as Bushland Carers, Garden Carers, Special Species Growing Group, Administration, Climatewatch, Science, Native Plant Sales, Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park.

When a volunteer position arises in any of the Friends volunteer groups it will be advertised in the Friends of Kings Park newsletter. Applicants are then encouraged to apply to the Volunteer Coordinator.

All volunteers must be Friends of Kings Park members.

Christmas and New Year services

Visitors are advised that a number of services within Kings Park and Botanic Garden will be unavailable over the Christmas and New Year period.

Concert traffic interruptions

Road and carpark closures will occur in Kings Park and Botanic Garden from December 2018 until May 2019 due to concert events.
