Native plant sales

Held 4 times a year, through rain, hail or sunshine, buyers from around Western Australia line up for the Friends of Kings Park plant sales.

These sales provide opportunities for buyers to build stunning gardens with plants not always available from commercial nurseries.

Plants are all grown by volunteers in the Kings Park nursery, which is accredited under the Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia (NIASA).

The proceeds from sales go directly to the Friends of Kings Park and are put towards supporting research and projects in Kings Park and Botanic Garden.

For more information about plant sales visit the Friends of Kings Park website.

Horticultural Advice & Support

The Horticultural Advice and Support team (HAS) is a group of Friends of Kings Park volunteers who provide expert gardening advice to the public over the phone and by email, as well as undertaking duties to support Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority Horticulture staff.

Formerly known as the Volunteer Master Gardeners, the HAS team has a long-term history of volunteering in Kings Park.

The HAS are available to give advice to home gardeners about common issues with Western Australian native plants, including:

  • Which WA native plant to purchase
  • Where and when to plant it
  • How to plant it
  • How to take care of it
  • What to do when it doesn’t go to plan

For answers to a host of commonly asked plant questions, a comprehensive list of plant notes and details on how to get in touch with your own queries, visit the HAS section of the Friends of Kings Park website.
