Bold Park - frequently asked questions

How long are the walk trails in Bold Park?

There are 15km of trails in the park. The longest and most popular is Zamia Trail, which is a 5km circular walk beginning at Reabold Hill. 

What do I need to bring with me to Bold Park?

Bring plenty of water, a hat and sunblock – the same as you would when going into the bush. Wear shoes with a good grip as the tracks are limestone and the ground is often uneven or hilly.

Can I bring my dog to Bold Park?

Yes, you may walk your dog on the trails in Bold Park, but it must be on a lead at all times. This is to protect other visitors and other dogs, as well as the flora and fauna of this A class reserve.

How do I report a dog off a lead?

Call our main phone number and any staff on the ground at Bold Park will be notified. Please do this immediately. Do not wait until you get home. Try to have a description of the dog, its owner, the location and the direction they were going in.

What time does the carpark close at Reabold Hill?

  • 1 April to 31 October - 5.30am to 7.00pm
  • 1 November to 31 March - 5.30am to 8.00pm

There is a sign on Reabold Hill giving the opening times and the penalty for requiring an after-hours call out to release your vehicle.

Can I do a guided tour of the park?

Yes, the Friends of Bold Park bushland run free guided walks regularly.

Are there any toilets in Bold Park?

No, there are no toilets or water in the park. The nearest public toilets are at Perry Lakes Reserve.

Can I bring a portable barbecue with me?

Portable barbecues are not permitted due to the fire risk in this precious bushland reserve.

Can I do a nighttime walk?

We do not recommend people to visit Bold Park after dark, as there is no path lighting. From time to time groups do organise and book night stalks using head torches. Check with the Friends of Bold Park Bushland to see which walks are coming up.

I am coming to use the bridle trail – where can I park my horse float?

Horse floats can be parked in the bus bay in Camel Lake car park, as long as there are no schools booked in on that day who will require bus parking. Please call Bold Park to check first.

Can I book a space in Bold Park?

The Reabold Hill look-out can be booked for weddings, however, Bold Park is not suitable for social functions or picnics. Bookings must be made for school visits and sporting events or to ride a horse on the bridle path.

Can I ride a bike in Bold Park?

Cycling is not permitted on the trails in the park, however you may cycle up Scenic Walk (a shared path so 15km/h) and down Scenic Drive (40km/h) at the northern end of the park.

Can I fly my drone in Bold Park?

No, flying drones is not permitted in Bold Park.
