Join some arty members of Kings Park staff at Aspects of Kings Park for a live demonstration of the popular Tjanpi Desert Weavers' basket weaving kits!
Tjanpi Desert Weavers are a social enterprise of the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council. Their purpose is to provide income opportunities for Aboriginal women living across the remote NPY Lands through fibre art creation. Tjanpi represents over 400 artists from 26 communities.
If you want to learn how to weave a basket of your own, the Tjanpi Desert Weavers Learn to Weave kit includes everything you'll need to get started, designed to be used in conjunction with their Weaving Tutorial video and PDF instructions (available on Tjanpi Desert Weavers' website free of charge). These colourful kits are available to buy in-store and online at Aspects, so if you fancy having a go yourself - we've got you covered!
