Memorial services

Kings Park and Botanic Garden is an important place to many Western Australians. It is a place for remembrance, recognised by the many significant historical and cultural public memorials.

Memorial Groups

Many of Kings Park's memorials acknowledge a specific group, or an event of significance that is commemorated. Ex-service groups and other recognised associations are required to make a booking for their service, these bookings do not incur a fee.

Memorial services at the State War Memorial require written permission from the RSLWA. Ex-service organisations should contact the RSLWA directly on (+61 8) 9287 3799 or via events@rslwa.org.au. A copy of RSLWA permission is to be included with the application to BGPA. RSLWA approval for all other organisations will be sought by the Bookings Office during the booking process.

If you wish to have a social gathering following your memorial service please refer to the Parties and Picnics section to make a booking. Please note that fees apply.

Personal Memorial Services

Kings Park has a special place in the hearts of many Western Australians and a memorial service at one of our venues is a special way to honour your loved ones.

Of our many venues, the Place of Reflection is a unique place surrounded by tranquil gardens with views over the river, created as a location for people who have suffered loss, to seek understanding, peace, hope, healing and renewal. The Marlee Pavilion in the Place Reflection can be booked for private memorial services by contacting the Bookings Office.

While memorial services are welcome, funerals, funeral processions and vehicles (hearses) and the spreading of ashes are not permitted.
