Event information
Birdwatching is an increasingly popular hobby and southwest WA is one of the best places in the world for interesting and unique birdlife. But many of the species living in our bushland areas are LBBs - little brown birds - which even experienced birdwatchers have difficulty identifying at times.
Bring your binoculars or a camera (if you have them) on this walk as we look for some of the birds, big and small, that can be found in our bushland areas. We'll also learn a little about each species and share some tips for identifying them. With some luck, we might come across some less common species to add to your life list - Bold Park is one of the better spots to see Tawny Frogmouths, Painted Button-quails, Little Eagles, and more.
Prepare for your walk
- Walking grade is moderate with some steeper sections; not suitable for wheelchairs and prams.
- Wear sturdy, closed-in shoes and come dressed for the weather with a hat and drinking water.
- There are no toilets in Bold Park. The nearest toilet facilities are at Perry Lakes Reserve.
- These walks are free and bookings are generally not required for individuals. Please contact the Friends of Bold Park Bushland if you have a group greater than ten people who wish to attend.
Our events go ahead in rain or shine, however walks may be cancelled in extreme weather conditions. Refer to the notices section for current closures and service interruptions.
