This family workshop is the perfect introduction to botanical drawing, painting and collage techniques.

Family Workshop (ages 7+)
After a short nature walk to gather your reference material, you’ll learn about the differences between water colours and inks and discover how to make your own pigments using naturally sourced materials. You will then create your own beautiful botanical artwork, using guided drawing, painting and collage.  
Discovering Resources
- Short nature walk to gather some reference material.
- What is the difference between watercolour and ink?
- How to create inks and watercolours using easily sourced materials - rock, marri, charcoal, food colouring
Drawing
- 3 drawing activities to loosen up and practice 'really seeing' what you are looking at
- Draw a selection of botanical objects - leaves, seedpods, blossoms, nuts etc
Painting
- Introduction to watercolour techniques - wet on dry, wet on wet
- Using paints and inks to add colour to drawings
- Creating backgrounds - colour samples and mixing colours (while paintings dry)
- Adding outlines
Collage
- Cutting out drawn objects
- Composition - arranging and gluing your artwork
Children must be accompanied by at least one paying adult.
