Eucalyptus kruseana

Bookleaf Mallee

Eucalyptus kruseana boasts orbicular leaves that grow overlapping each other, as the pages of a book would.

The Bookleaf Mallee is a highly ornamental mallee, with decorative grey foliage.  Flower buds range in colour from blue to grey to green, with small clusters of creamy yellow flowers in winter and early spring.  Eucalyptus Kruseana has a compact habit in its first few years, developing a more open and architectural appearance as it ages, growing up to 3 meters in height.

Grow it at home

  • Grows well in an open position in full sun and light shade
  • Tolerates a range of soils provided free draining
  • Drought tolerant once established
  • Prune this tree while it is still young to the desired form. This tree will require maintenance pruning, but can also tolerate hard pruning
  • Great architectural habit

The flowers along with its peculiar foliage make it a great cut flower.

Find it in Kings Park

Bookleaf Mallees can be seen throughout the park in several locations including around Wadjuk Car Park, around Fraser's restaurant, along Forest Drive opposite the DNA tower, at May Drive Parkland and at Poolgarla Family Area.
