An attractive small shrub with blue-green linear leaves that contrast with soft pink to pink-purple flowers between July and December.
Grow it at home
- Very ornamental and ideal for native gardens of any size, as well as pot cultivation
- Grows to 0.3-1.2m H x 0.2-1.2m W
- Best grown in open, sunny area, will tolerate light shade
- Tolerates a range of soils provided there is good drainage
- Apply slow-release native blend 8-9 month fertiliser on planting and annually in spring
- Formative pruning ensures a good growth habit and prevents woody, spindly stems
- Pruning following flowering ensures new growth and dense plants
Verticordia plumosa is the most variable of all Verticordia species, with several described, naturally occurring, varieties, within a broad endemic distribution in the south-west of Western Australia.

This plant can be found in the Verticordia Garden, Western Australian Botanic Garden entrance beds, Jarrah Woodland, Wadjuk Carpark and Frasers surrounds.
Out in the wild
Verticordia plumosa can be found growing throughout the south-west, on Coastal Sandplains, Jarrah Forest and Mallee regions between Port Denison to the north of Perth and Cape Arid to the south-east.
