Eucalyptus synandra

Jingymia Mallee

Rare in the wild yet strikingly beautiful, this ornamental mallee captivates the public with its delicate, but distinctive, white-pink skirt-like flowers. It features a sparse crown and somewhat drooping branches.

A threatened multi-stemmed mallee growing to 5m tall in the northern wheatbelt from Mullewa to Kalannie. Its pendulous slenderly beaked bud caps open to reveal elegant white or pink blooms over the summer months, making it a desirable feature tree for cultivated areas.

Grow it at home

  • Thrives in humid full sun
  • Low maintenance - may need to prune low hanging stems as heavy fruit develops
  • Water while establishing through first summer then water when needed
  • Add 50 - 100mm of mulch to increase water retention and nutrient and organic material availability
  • Fertilise with a controlled-release native fertiliser when young
  • Weed regularly to remove competition for water and to ensure nutrients are used by your plants.
