Calothamnus hirsutus

A compact, softly textured shrub with fine hairy foliage.

Growing 1m x 1m, this many branched shrub has upright hairy new growth, giving the plant an entangled appearance. The flowers are an attractive dark red putting on a display from September - December. After flowering, this species develops fruits sessile to the stem adding subtle texture and visual appeal.

At Kings Park this species stands proudly along a high traffic pathway in a dry and hard to establish part of the garden. Calothamnus hirsutus is a hardy, low maintenance and drought tolerant species making it a perfect candidate for Perth home gardeners.
