Event information
As the Millennium Seed Bank (MSB) celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, we have a year of celebration, reflection, and looking to the future. The MSB is often described as one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, storing seeds from more than 40,000 wild plant species. Behind this headline figure is a global collaborative conservation effort, underpinned by the work of over 275 partners worldwide as well as cutting-edge research on seed storage and behaviour. This talk will take you on a tour of the history, partnerships and research activities of the MSB since 2000, as well as a look towards what the future could hold.
Dr Alice Hudson is the Partnership Officer at the Millennium Seed Bank (MSB), where she looks after the Seed Conservation Standards, Samara newsletter (the newsletter of the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership (MSBP)) and is currently co-leading a research project using machine learning in orchid viability analysis. Dr Hudson first joined the MSB in 2017 as Project Officer for the UK National Tree Seed Project, following completion of her PhD from the University of Wollongong, where she investigated the potential impact of climate change on reproduction and recruitment of an Acacia species.
