Banksia pilostylis

A fast-growing Banksia with effortless charm for an open sunny area in the home garden.

This many-branched shrub features long serrated leaves that give it a natural scrambling habit. Rust coloured new growth adds depth and texture while the pale-yellow flower spikes are densely packed with blooms from October - January. In cultivation this species often grows smaller than in the wild. Kings Park planted specimens often mature below 1.5 x 1.5m.

Grow it at home

  • Low maintenance species requiring little upkeep post establishment
  • Tidy prune annually to freshen up the plant, but it's not advised to cut below green leaves
  • Prefers drier well-draining soil, over clay soils
  • Resilient waterwise plant
  • Loved by bird life and ground dwelling fauna
  • Ideal PH 5.5 - 6.5.
