Goodenia varia

A cascading container favourite that’s renter-friendly, reliable and drought tolerant.

Prostrate in form, this plant features flat leaves with a toothed margin that are sticky when young. It also produces small yellow flowers near-on year-round adding a pop of colour where the leaf meets the stem.

This species is classified as Priority 2, meaning it’s a poorly known species from few locations. Not only is this a great plant for the home garden or verge, it’s also an active contribution to conserving this plant's future.

Grow it at home

  • In a pot, use native soil mix, fertilise with a controlled release fertiliser and water until established
  • Prune once established to maintain a dense bushy form
  • If planting in the ground, this species prefers sunny to lightly shaded areas with well-draining soil.
